Aldebaran


Aldebaran (α Tauri) is a star in the constellation Taurus. Aldebaran is a double star system about 67 light-years (ly) away. With an apparent magnitude of 0.87 mag it is the 14th brightest star seen from Earth.

It is part of the Winter Hexagon and is toward, but not part of, the Hyades open star cluster as seen from Earth. Remarkable for the free-eyed observer is its red color.
