Peacock


Peacock (α Pavonis) is the brightest star in the constellation Pavo. It is about 180 light-years (ly) away and has an apparent magnitude of 1.94 mag. It is only visible south of 32 degrees north latitude.

Peacock (α Pavonis) is a spectroscopic double star with an orbital period of 11.8 days, suggesting a distance of the two components of just 0.21 AU.
