Alphecca (α Coronae Borealis) is the brightest star in the semicircular constellation Corona Borealis. Alphecca is an eclipsing binary system approximately 76.5 light-years (ly) from Earth. The brightness of the system varies with a period of 17.36 days between about 2.2 and 2.3 mag (hardly detectable with the naked eye).
